I don't think it's bad, I think many people just oppose going back and changing an (older) work of art, it's just that not everyone sees movies as a work of art.

I mean, it's sort of like if the Beatles would decide to change lyrics o some of their songs 30 years after they were released, or that Picasso would redo famous paintings at the end of his life.

People who love the original are going to have strong feelings about that

Yeah but...Picasso was the sole creator of his works. Nobody was awarded for helping the Beatles write their lyrics. A lot of groundbreaking work went into Star Wars that Lucas couldn't have possibly done on his own but he was more than happy to get new people to shit on it later because of his own sad inability to see the work as complete. I'm not sure that that's where people are coming from in their hatred, but that's the part that really bothers me.

Anyway, probably most people are a lot less bothered by some changes than others, but you'd never know with SW fandom's extreme negativity olympics.
