Re: Hobbit Movies

I dislike them, mostly. It's personal for me, because I grew up reading the books, my mum's a hardcore LOTR fan and was so excited for the movies. It was terrible to see her disappointment.

On the other hand, I do really like Richard Armitage as Thorin, and I must admit Martin Freeman made a good Bilbo. The guy who played Bard was also pretty good. There was potential there, but it was wasted.

Agreed. I think the wasted potential almost makes it worse. Like, you could see that there was a lot of the same passion as LOTR. The cast was great. But it just ended up being a mess.

Yeah. I don't think I would've disliked them as much if I hadn't known how good they COULD be, you know? It was clear that they didn't have the same level of pre-production and planning for the Hobbit movies as they did for LOTR, and it really showed. Then the Hobbit movies themselves were a hot mess. :(

AYRT

Yes! Having watched the extended features of LOTR, I feel sorry for all of the awesome artists and fans who worked on The Hobbit, and would have seen the end result. :/
