I fucking hate 'Name of the Wind.' What a stupid fucking book. Oh look at me I'm Kvothe of the reddest hair to ever red and a super special snowflake name that goes against all other spelling and naming conventions in this world and the hot, "troubled," two-dimensional girl who just can't seem to stop going after the ebul Bad Boys really likes me, the Nicest Nice Guy there ever was, but because I am the Nicest Nice Guy they won't be with me, woe.

And fucking shit, you spend the first couple of chapters setting up Evil Returning to the World and Impending Badass Conflict, and it's actually interesting, but instead of doing anything with that, you spend the entire rest of the book on stupid, mopey, SO ~TRAGIC~ Kvothe going to fucking Hogwarts.

I was so disappointed in that shit.

But it doesn't surprise me at all that Rothfuss is pompous enough to think he's the only writer who's ever gotten a little screwy after spending hours upon hours pouring over a work, considering that people treat him like he's goddamned Jesus for writing a saga about a boring self-insert.

You forgot that our dear Kvothe (fuck his name, seriously) was the only one to ever get accepted into university on a scholarship AND was younger than anybody else, can do fancy magic nobody else can do, befriends all the ~strange~ people and creatures, is cleverer and tricksier than anybody, and is the best musician to ever music.

I had seen all the positive reviews, and was stunned by how lousy the book actually was. I agree with you so much.

Oh but even though he's awesome people hate him and are trying to bring him down just 'cause, so see he CAN'T be a Stu, and also poor him, woe, woe, woe.

I also heard that, in the second book, a succubus captures him, but even though he's a virgin, HE'S THE BEST LAY SHE'S EVER HAD (because he is just such a sensitive guy, you know?). So she doesn't kill him, she just keeps fucking him until he's like, "well, I gotta go." Like what the ever-loving fuck.

Oh my god, seriously? Seriously??? That is hilarious. How can anybody take the story seriously after something like that?

My understanding is that a lot of people couldn't.

And don't forget the warriors who have never taught an outsider their secret badass arts, until one day, HARK, IS THAT A KVOTHE?

I am amazed he doesn't have several books of prophecy about him.
