I know I also felt somewhat similar back when I was in the Transformers fandom. The juggernaut pairing there, I read plenty of fics about it because they were there, but it was hardly my favourite ship. My ship was rare enough not to be common but never seemed to get the "rare pair" tag.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-11 03:17 am (UTC)(link)I think this is part of the reason why I don't read much fanfiction anymore and mostly only write my own.

This is a systemic fanfic problem though - a lot of fandoms have exactly the same thing, lots of fics that follow the canon plot with little variation.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-11 04:14 am (UTC)(link)I prefer fanfiction that explores the parts that were left out or how things could have been different.
On that note, I'm really getting sick of fix-its. Yes, main characters died. Yes, it was sad and fandom has a hard time getting over it. But eventually, the stories about how a certain different character stepped in and managed to save the other character just get old.
