Star Wars fans

Who's excited for the new movie?!!?!?

I'm rewatching the old movies now, and I haven't seen them in years. I forgot how campy (I mean that in a good way!) the original trilogy is.

My bf actually took the afternoon off and we're getting a "love seat" in the cinema.

I want to be excited, but I can't. I loved the original trilogy (those movies were space adventures at their finest), but the last three were such a huge disappointment that I can't help thinking that it's going to be meesameesaJarJar all over again, all flash and style but no heart or substance.

I'm not excited at all. Mostly because I tend to not remotely enjoy JJ's work.

My S.O. is pumped enough for both of us, though.

OF COURSE!

I have no standards for it tbh. I didn't grow up with the series, only watched it this year.

Me! I actually watched A New Hope earlier, and I'm hoping to get through the rest of the films by the time I see the new one. (Yes, even the prequels.)

A New Hope was as excellent as I remembered (somewhat cheesy effects and all; the film still looks pretty damn good though, despite all the advances of today), so I have high hopes for the other two OT films. Not quite as high hopes for the others, but I did enjoy them when I was younger so hopefully I can still find something to like about them.

That and earlier this week I finished my replay of Knights of the Old Republic, so it's been a fun filled ST month so far. After I see The Force Awakens I might start a replay of KOTOR2 (hopefully with the cut-content).

Edited to add that I love everything I've seen of TFA, and that I'm really looking forward to seeing the original trio as well as the new cast. I have a good feeling about Rey and Finn!

KOTOR2 is on Steam now, recently updated for cross-platform and higher-resolution compatibility - and the Workshop has TSLRCM. You have no excuses!

(I am the anon who shows up once in a great while to babble about this game and then vanishes again... as much as I love Bioware stuff (including KOTOR itself), KOTOR2 fascinates me even more. 250k words on my fic and still going!)

I own KOTOR2 on PC, so I won't be buying it again. :( Which kind of sucks tbh because I'd love to play a shiner version, but I imagine the file size is pretty large (especially since the graphics have been updated) and I have to watch what I download.

I will get around to replaying the game eventually, though! I had the xbox version of KOTOR so sadly no mods for that one.

See, I prefer KOTOR quite a bit to KOTOR2, but it's still a good game and I'm sure the restored content mod makes it much better. It's unfortunate how rushed KOTOR2 was.

I am always glad to meet another KOTOR fan! There aren't many of us here on f!s. (What is your fic about, btw? You might've mentioned it but if you did I've forgotten.)

CAN'T WAIT OMG

The trailers alone have me excited. Andbthe speculation, though I try and stay away from as much of it as possible in case a rumor or something ends up being true.

Gonna see it that Saturday as I juat won't have enough time to see it Friday. That's peak week for us and I know I'll be getting home after at least 7 or 8 am and I'm gonna need sleep. Same Saturday morning, but...I wanna see it as soon as possible.

I'm excited. Not SUPER CRAZY EXCITED (I'm definitely more pumped for Hateful Eight, for instance) but yeah, I'm excited.

Nervous, because I grew up with the EU - quite literally. I saw the original trilogy on SciFi when they showed it with Carrie Fisher, and then my brother and I wore out the VHS tapes we used to record that... and forced my mother to read the Thrawn trilogy to us. (I would steal the books and read ahead, since I was ten, and actually understood enough - and never minded hearing it a second time, partly because my mother's pronunciation of the names was hilarious.) I only stopped reading the books as they were released with the very first of the New Jedi Order series, because they finally started killing off movie characters and I couldn't take that. Got sucked back in through KOTOR (both of them) when my brother lent them to me about six, seven years ago, and have re-read everything since.

So yeah. Nervous, because in a lot of respects I'm a walking Wookieepedia, and I don't want JJ to blow up all the things I love about the universe. But excited, too, because new canon. And Rebels was surprisingly good, so maybe it won't be awful?

"My" timeframe is definitely the Mandalorian Wars and Jedi Civil War, though (~3950 BBY), so at least I can always hide out in the past. :)
