Re: Older things you just got into

I finally read Nemesis the Warlock. The art style really takes some getting used to--you've got this bold space opera where worlds clash with worlds, and you've got this messy, punky art that distorts shapes and makes common things grotesque. The thing is, it actually fits with the tone and the message, an over-the-top challenge to bigotry and xenophobia. Not all of the stories hit, but the plot really comes into its own as it draws parallels between future oppression of aliens and all the oppression of different-looking or different-acting humans that came before it. (The bit where Torquemada goes back in time and meets his historical namesake is just jaw-dropping.)
