Re: Does anyone else get a really Skeevy vibe off Hetmale Doms?

So the attitude of hetero male doms online including the spaces where they're trying to arrange real life hookups makes me really reluctant to have any contact with them including just socially.

You don't get to go "onnnnline" in the era of social media dude. Online is the real thing.

What I was saying is that people have a tendency to be extra obnoxious and assholeish online as opposed to real life.

Online you're more likely to meet the assholes in a group.

Probably should have specified that, I apologize.

You know, the older I get the more this doesn't ring true at all. If anything people are showing their true colors online. You have cases with tone, sarcasm, jokes not being read the way you mean them to, true. But people who always act like assholes seem to actually be assholes.

If someone is bring an asshole in a space where he's trying to pick people up? ABSOLUTELY bad news.

I think what AYRT means is people feel more free to be an asshole online since there are the lack of "real" consequences and probably don't act exactly the same way offline. Context and circumstances matter, obviously people don't act the same squeeing over some yaoi with their fandom friends as they do in a college classroom for example.

If anything I'd say people show how much of an asshole they can potentially be, but not necessarily how much of an asshole they are on an average daily basis... if that makes sense.

I totally get that! But if people revert to being assholes when they feel safe in their anonymity... they're actually assholes.

Again, I make a distinction between misunderstood jokes/sarcasm and actually being assholes. Honestly, it used to annoy me but I kind of like that more communities are doing the "/s" for sarcasm now. I mean I HATE it but it has its place.

Ugh.

I get where you're coming from! I think what I meant to say is that yes they're still assholes but um, how to put it? Less inhibited and more prone to overreaction? They're still assholes but lots of people rant and rave online like they'd never do in real life and having that real life inhibition is just as much part of not being as much of an asshole as you could be. At least to me.

I don't entirely disagree with you though.
