The lighting their friend on fire part is a bit relevant. Also his girlfriend was there, and she'd probably have killed her to just cause Mary's nasty like that.

I mean, somebody tries to light one of my friends on fire, I can see wanting to beat them into unconsciousness, you know?

...literally most superhero comics published in the last 75 years. That's the genre. There's superheroes, there's supervillains, the superheroes beat up the supervillains, the universe is safe once more, repeat monthly.
