I never thought about it with regards to the show, but now that you mention it, I think it's good to show things that way. That's how real life is. Sometimes people you like do bad things and you just have to deal with it. We don't all get "arcs" and become better.

But if it's a background character in a one-off episode that doesn't get addressed again, you don't even get to see the main characters "dealing with it." Which has happened a few times in SU.

Good storytelling involves more than "events that could happen IRL." The things I did today (mostly cooking, washing dishes, and sitting around drawing) were plenty realistic, but they would make a lousy episode of a TV show.
