I never thought about it with regards to the show, but now that you mention it, I think it's good to show things that way. That's how real life is. Sometimes people you like do bad things and you just have to deal with it. We don't all get "arcs" and become better.

It's better than the boring half-men (like Iceman) or literal rapists (like Gambit) they usually pair her with. Honestly, I wish she would just learn to love herself rather than having these stupid fucking relationships forced on her. The forest thing might help with that, so I think I'm on board.

It's not like seeing those kind of mental health posts are off-putting, or that I think "ugh this doesn't apply to me so it shouldn't exist", it's just...awkward.

I agree in the sense that treating the world of Hogwarts (or any other fantasy or genre work) as though it really exists is pretty boring and pointless and counterproductive. I'm not sure I'd put it in terms of moral relativism, though - it's just that Harry Potter is a work of genre fiction and so all of those questions make most sense when you treat it as a work of fiction, and not try to work out what the world of Harry Potter would really be like.

In a way, thinking about in terms of moral relativism is making the same mistake as taking it literally - you're attempting to judge the world of Harry Potter as though it were really happening. But wizarding Britain isn't a real culture.
