I definitely think we shouldn't apply the exact same morals when wizarding changes the rules slightly, but it doesn't change the rules COMPLETELY.

The HP characters are still human and still very much have human reactions to things. Murder is still bad. Getting your heart broken still sucks etc.

We can still make judgement calls about the characters and world based on the text. Of course everyone will make different calls but that happens with about EVERY book or piece of media fandom consumes. Even with people who have relatively similar moral compasses, everyone interprets things different.
