If you're trying to cast "elves," there are a lot of musicians who seem to fit the bill just being themselves. Or in Bowie's case, when he was inhabiting a weird character.

Here he is with Band of Joy in 2011, and sounding extremely like himself: "Ramble On"
"Black Dog" was Led Zeppelin at their bluesiest. Jimmy Page dominates this particular performance, but it shows off Robert Plant's body, so I'm throwing it in.
Plant would later do a bigger and somehow softer arrangement with Alison Krauss: "Black Dog," 30+ years on.
And of course, I feel quite obliged to link "Ship of Fools."
This is a pretty reasonable head-image for Glorfindel. It's not mine, but it's not absurd.
