I feel like these kind of things are fine for an adult live action show but having "morally grey" characters in a kids show is kind of weird. On one hand I appreciate it but on the other I really think things need to be explained to kids and I don't know if they're always getting that what the characters are doing is wrong.

But then again, I don't know any kids who even like Steven Universe so I wouldn't be able to see their reaction for myself.

I'm pretty sure kids understand the morally grey area. Coddleing them and forcing the black/white dynamic a la Disney on children results in the teenagers on Tumblr who have complete fucking meltdowns whenever a good character does anything wrong ever. (I even see people 20+ incapable of understanding that good characters can still fuck up). I really fail to see the problem with giving young children multifaceted characters to appreciate in media.

Yeah no, most kids in the world, which is not the USA, can handle more than Black vs White in their stories, and they did since ye olde times.

All right, we fully get by now that you think something about being given the "American" nationality on a slip of paper at birth puts something in kids' brains that causes them to be unable to handle grey morality, and that's why adults only made cartoons like that for them. What I want to know is what kind of brainwashing they give you in your special place of birth that makes you think that's how it works.
