Tech Recs

Does anyone have a preference for a scanner?

I'm looking to buy one and I was curious if anyone had any recommendations.

Main use: documents, maybe pictures/paintings (done on paper).

Anyone tried the wand scanners or a thin flatbed?

Thanks!

My SO has a flatbed scanner which works very well for her uses (which are mainly making digital copies of printed art). I believe it is an EPSON, and I don't think it was an overly pricey model.

I might be in the market for a new one soon, but I have no idea what sort of specs I need for what I do versus what would be a waste of money in overkill.

I use:
Firefox (general browsing and streaming from netflix, Hulu, etc).
Scrivener
VLC
Sims 2
iTunes.

That's pretty much it.

It obviously depends on your budget, but I usually advise spending your money on the better processors, and to get a minimum of 8GB of RAM. Don't get distracted by the hard drive space; with the usb drives and online storage, there's plenty of easy storage options - the processor is more important.

Based on your list, the Sims 2 is the only one that might be picky about hardware requirements. You may want to google their hardware requirements, specifically looking at what they call for with the graphic card. I feel like Sims 2 has been out for a while, though, so current laptops should be good, but it's worth checking into.

Considering the current game is Sims 4 and EA/Maxis is slow to bring new things, yeah it's been out a while. At least a decade. Thanks for commenting.
