Ergh, yeah, don't you love that sort of twisted logic? My family's gone through similar things in the past-when we applied for government aid, we'd sometimes get refused, because according to them, we were making too much money to qualify for this or that program.

Meanwhile, we're sitting there struggling to pay our rent and heat, as well as pay for food, and going, "Making too much? Really? That's news to us!"

And yet, because I'm in a stupid conservative state, being unemployed is not enough to qualify for medicaid.

Oh, but don't you know? According to conservative politicians, you're only unemployed because you're lazy or just want to mooch off the government, and therefore you don't deserve any help as a result. There can't possibly be ANY justifiable reason for you to be unemployed, after all! If you just work a little harder and "pull yourself up by your bootstraps", maybe they'll be nice and help you!

Gotta love that sort of ass-backwards thinking, huh? I'm sorry you have to put up with that crap.
