Cate Blanchett is in talks for a role in Thor:Ragnarok.

I need this to happen. This is the best entertainment news ever. What do I need to do to make this happen? Please take the role, Cate.

Is she supposed to be a villain or an asgardian? Either way this is amazing casting and I hope it happens.

We haven't been told for certain, but What Culture suggested she might play Valkerie.

Ooo, I actually read Fearless Defenders and liked her quite a bit. Haven't read anything else with her, but it would be cool to see Cate as a character like that. Whoever she plays I'm sure she'll be kicking butt (and be convincing as hell), and that's something I want to see.

...Plus, me being shallow I'm excited for what her costume will look like. She's a gorgeous woman and no matter what she'll probably be stunning and look great.

Oh, I'm completely shallow. She's my top female crush, and Chris Hemsworth is my top male crush. The two of them together in a movie will make me die of happiness. I mean, she's a great actress who will do an amazing job. But I'm mostly shallow and want the pretty.

That's a perfectly reasonable response imo.

Look at Marvel's casting so far, anyway. Are the actors talented? Sure! ... They also all look like models. Cate will fit right in; there aren't many women I find more visually appealing than her. The fact that she has the acting chops to pull off whatever is also something to be pleased about.

Geez, I hope this is 'official' because now I'm going to be massively disappointed if she isn't in it.

I'm inclined to believe it since all the Benedict and Mads rumors played out.

Cate Blanchett as Valkyrie is something I have never considered, but now... holy shit I want so, so badly for this to be true.

I was figuring that she could possibly be Hela as well but I'll admit this comes from my desire to see Hela and her realm in the movies. However! I think she could make a very compelling Valkyire as well and frankly it's a character I'd love to see in the movies too, so if she is playing her, bring it.

I don't care what role she takes. I love her face. Obviously, I do hope they give her an amazing role. Did you see Cinderella? .

I really want to see Carol. It seems like a really powerful role.

I saw Cinderella twice, mostly for her. I want to see Carol, but it isn't playing here (Texas, so not likely to play such a movie if they don't have to and it is limited release).

Unless she's replacing hemsworth I am sceptical this is good news.

No. She's amazing, but she should not be replacing Hemsworth. I don't want the female Thor in the movies. Hemsworth is perfection.
