NA If I get this right (heh): you can commiserate together with someone or towards someone. Like:

With: "You've bled through your pants! Fuck, that sucks! If you tie your blazer around your waist no-one's going to notice. Let's find a rest room."

Towards: "You've bled through your pants! Here, tie my jacket around your waist and no-one's going to notice. It's hardly visible anyway."

A sympathetic person can of course be either gender, but you might need less explaining with a person in-the-know.

Why are you being deliberately obtuse about this? Sure, it's bad to assume and generalize, but it seems a pretty logical assumption that women are more qualified for commiseration about menstruation than men.

I don't think it should be that hard for people to explain their reasoning behind it, if it's such a logical assumption to make.

Experiencing something personally gives one a better understanding of it? Talking to a man about periods is like talking to a virgin about sex. Sure, they can nod along, but the empathy and depth of understanding isn't there.

NA I've certainly got a lot of empathy and depth of understanding from males towards bio-female stuff, boyfriends, casual friends and professionals.

That's why I prefer male gynecologists over female. The male gyns I've met treat me like an individual, but the female ones have without exception treated me like a run-of-the-mill piece of meat. That covers explaining procedures and pre-warnings, pain medication and general humanity. My female gyns have been rough, unsympathetic and rolling their eyes if I dared ask about stuff they obviously thought every woman should have known already. Or maybe I have a female gyn-provoking pussy, what do I know.

I haven't seen it happen with that particular thing, but I've definitely seen too much of that "MY EXPERIENCE IS EVERYONE'S EXPERIENCE" crap from people. It is very annoying.
