(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 01:08 am (UTC)(link)*Maybe bulgur? It's been a long time since I've had either but it definitely brought memories of childhood breakfast. Which isn't what I was necessarily looking for in my chinese takeout.

I for one like brown rice, but it isn't my favorite. I don't go to restaurants much anymore but when I do I typically get brown rice as well.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)best way to cook basmati rice?
(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 04:22 am (UTC)(link)Thanks!
Re: best way to cook basmati rice?
I rinse it and cook in a pressure cooker, water two to one, with some salt and a half spoon of oil. Sometimes I add a bit of a carrot and a bell paper. Yeah, it's as boring as it sounds.

Basmati rice has a slightly drier texture than say, jasmine rice or short grain rice. It goes best with dishes that have a lot of sauce to soak up, like curry.
Re: best way to cook basmati rice?
Hm-mm, did you use the recipe in the article? I like pressure cooked rice because it's fast. The downside is washing the lid separately from other dishes however it's still faster than simply boiling it.
