Re: Question about Reddit etiquette...kind of confused

There is a pretty substantial subset of redditors who are uber-paranoid about 'shills' and go batshit anytime they think they spot marketing on the website. See /r/hailcorporate (maybe it's hail_corporate, I'm not sure). To be fair, companies have legitimately used reddit accounts to attempt subtle advertizing, but the way so many assume anyone having a positive experience with a company is just paid to promote them is frustrating as all hell.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience so early on in your time there. Some corners of the site are filled with more obnoxious people, some with less...and unfortunately, there's often no good way to know which until you spend enough time there.
