Weirdly, I was recently reading a thread about underwater earphones where a rep from a company apparently replied and their comments received very positive responses. They mentioned upfront who they were though.

It's probably because they were open about being a rep. I don't think people really have a problem with reps or creators talking about their product, it's when they pretend to be customers that people get pissed.
