Yeah. It happens a lot in TV shows, too. It's as if once the romance is achieved, the bottom falls out of the plot. Or because the show has focused so much on the romance and "will they get together?" question, the main source of conflict (and therefore interest) is the relationship itself. So you end up with dumb plots about romantic misunderstandings, angst, break ups, getting back together, etc. etc.
