Re: What was your first fandom?

I view it two ways. The first show I got into so much I'd make up stories and self insert etc, and then the first social fandom where I'd meet other people and get involved in the community.

For the first, Dumbo's Flying Circus. I was so young I barely remember it, but I can remember laying in bed imagining stories for the show. I was really into it for some reason. Weird toddler/tiny me.

For the second, probably X-Men comics. That was my first real involvement with fandom online and where I learned the term 'fanfiction' for what I'd been doing all along. :)

It always makes me laugh how once "initiated" into the online communities, you realize that all the stories you were writing as extensions or sequels to the original media are in fact, fanfiction.

I was about eleven/twelve when I wrote one down. Kids in my class read it and thought it was a cool sequel to a movie most had all seen that summer.I don't think anyone realized it was fic. I sure didn't.
