red nose, red shoulders, red elbows, blushing red around the eyes.
You know what doesn't blush? BONE. Quit that shit. And quit making everybody look like they have a cold.

YES.

Inexplicable brightly coloured are one of my biggest art pet peeves. I've only ever run into one artist who could pull it off in a way that didn't look hideous.

(This, BTW, is one of the reasons why I refuse to watch Gravity Falls.)

...meant to say inexplicable brightly coloured noses.

I hate that too. It's not very appealing when your characters look sickly or sunburned.

I especially when the artist adds a little white highlight in the middle of red that makes it look like the characters have giant pimples all over their body.

I'll always, always hate that. Somehow I think it's supposed to make the parts of the body that are hard "cute" by making them all blush-y.

Yep, I hate that. I also hate pictures that make noses look like something that's got stuck on the face - the sort that is not only coloured darker than everything else but also has an unbroken outline.

I know some of the Gems in Steven Universe have that, and it even looks weird on them.

The only character in Steven Universe that has a nose like what you're describing is Jasper, and that's because her "nose" is actually her gem. It isn't supposed to look like a normal nose.

Yeah, it looks weird, but it works because of the whole idea of the Gems.
