(Anonymous) 2015-12-21 04:28 am (UTC)(link)Steam have a lot of playable free demos. I think there are hundreds. I've gotten a lot of fun out of demos, sometimes even more than the full game.
If you have a phone, there's a whole world of free to pay games for that, as long as you don't make in app transactions. Luckily a lot of games can be played without paying as long as you're patient.
GOG often do free game giveaways, no purchase required. I've had three already this year. They also have a selection of totally free games, mostly retro point and click adventures.
Then there's browser games. Some of my favourite games of all time are free browser games. Try jayisgames for some great recommendations.
