Re: The most offensive piece of media you've ever come across.
(Anonymous) 2015-12-24 01:01 am (UTC)(link)At the very least, Gayniggers from Outer Space is intentionally offensive and clearly intended to be a parody (though I personally did not find it funny).
For Such a Time, on the other hand, is 100% serious, and the author doesn't understand why it's offensive no matter how many times people try to explain it to her. She is so painfully clueless I'd almost feel sorry for her if I wasn't so disgusted.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-24 01:19 am (UTC)(link)It's Nazi-romanticizing Christian propaganda disguised as a "modern" adaptation of the Book of Esther. Basically, a Jewish woman who looks "Aryan" enough to hide her Jewishness falls in love with a guy who runs a concentration camp, and then she finds salvation through Jesus.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of why this book is terrible:

And an example of the author's painful cluelessness in action:

(Anonymous) 2015-12-24 01:32 am (UTC)(link)Well, it is an inspirational romance. That's a genre that has drippiness as one of its main tenets. I don't mind that such books exists as long as no one's forcing me to read them, but I must object to the slaughter of millions of people being used as a backdrop for a drippy romance. And I especially object to the Holocaust being used as a backdrop for a fucking "JEW SEES THE LIGHT AND BECOMES CHRISTIAN!!!!" story, which would be offensive in and of itself even without the bonus Nazis.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)That's just entirely ...nope. Nopenopenopenope.
How can you not understand why that's offensive?
