Sounds like you ARE a trans man. If you were born in the opposite sex's body, then the "trans" refers to the distance between that and your identified gender.

Trans is an identity, because we're discussing gender identity. You don't have to tell people you're a "trans man", you can just say "man". But that doesn't mean you aren't trans.
