I know being in Fandom has given me a few ew fandoms over the years, and usually if it catches my interest strongly enough, I go get the canon material that does not promise that it will be books though, off-hand two such fandoms got me into computer games and another a TV show).

Well, of course it can get you non-book fandoms. I just thought in this case we were specifically talking about text-based stuff, and how to find more of them.
