I don't think he's a good actor but I think he's entertaining, especially in a role that suits him.

Haven't seen Barrowman in much, but IA. (Though I have seen a few interviews or whatever with him that I found really awkward and I'm not entirely sure why...)

I don't think he's necessarily a bad actor. I do think he has a limited range, but I've enjoyed him on both Doctor Who and Arrow.

I think the problem is he's a stage actor/entertainer, not so much a movie/TV actor and it shows in how he moves.

I like him, but I agree his performances aren't the pinnacle of screen acting.

+1, his acting always reaches right to the back of the theatre...even when he's in close up on a camera. But this generally suits his characters so that's okay with me.

+2 Barrowman is very much a play and musical actor. He really just doesn't have the subtle acting that you need sometimes on screen.

I'd probably rather watch him in a musical then a tv show, but he can be okay sometimes.

I think he's not a very good actor, but he's been given a lot of roles that work for what range he has.

That being said, he's kind of a huge creeper. Reading about the shit he's done on sets is so uncomfortable.

I don't agree he's amateurish, he's just pretty camp. Also, he's a great singer. But I can definitely see how he's not everyone's cup of tea. I can deal with him in small doses, myself.

He's not really a great actor, but he has charisma, and if you give him a role that suits him, he can be very appealing. I did think he did some surprisingly good acting in Torchwood Children of Earth though.

Agreed. He's a terrible actor. But he is entertaining in the right part. Give him a heavy dramatic scene, however, and he's excruciating to watch. I'll still enjoy the rest of his performance
