My Jewish dad's best friend, who is Buddhist, always comes over on Christmas Day. He lives in SoCal full-time since retiring (before, he split time here and Florida; worked in aerospace) so he could come over all the time if he liked, and yet we still usually only see him at Christmas and the Super Bowl. We are making baked ziti.

On Sunday I am gonna make cookies to give to my friends as their holiday gift. This year our annual Secret Santa fell through, but I'd still like them to have something. So there's cookies, yaaay!

Stay warm and safe with your storm! It's gonna rain here, and it's cold (for my warped sense of temperature).

I'm gonna make soft ginger cookies. I went to World Market to get little food-safe treat bags for them, and impulse-bought a bag of chunks of crystallized ginger because the recipe on the back looked good. I also got tea samplers for my friends with December birthdays, and a little summer sausage for my friend who's on a lower-carb/no-refined-sugars diet. Even though I expect he's made some holiday wiggle room, I doubt he's relishing all the holiday goodies as much.
