I can understand discomfort with getting help from other people, but honestly, this isn't the time. You don't want to fuck around with dental issues because if it's an infection, not only is it likely to get worse the longer you wait, but the treatment will be more complicated and more expensive as well. Any good dentist will tell you they'd MUCH rather do preventative care rather than dealing with the ugly fallout that occurs when people let their teeth go untreated.

So basically, you let this go, it might turn into something truly ugly, and your family dentist you didn't want to impose upon would probably have to sort you out anyway, only now his job will be worse than if you'd just sucked it up and gone to him first.

You're right. I was hoping to wait it out until I found a job, but I don't know when that will happen and I just need to suck it up.
