A quick search says she's open to returning, but doesn't believe she'll be given a part. I think whoever is making it wants a new cast, as TPTB don't want Lawless 'overshadowing' whoever/whatever else they have in mind for the show. So if Lawless and O'Connor came back, it would probably only be for an episode or two. It sounds like Lawless would love to play Xena again in a film, but I don't know how likely any of this is. :/
Which sucks (because, like OP said, there are plenty of men older then Lawless and O'Connor playing action heroes), because I would love to see Xena return in the same way X-Files is.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-25 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)A Xena in her 40s would work in a less sexist industry, and would be interesting, but it would be a different... something than the original.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-25 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)I mean, even Lucy is in a show right now where a man is reprising a role he did over 30 years ago (Ash vs evil dead.)
I won't automatically count out a reboot but it does feel like sexism/ageism plays a part in what gets a sequel vs what gets a reboot.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-26 08:07 am (UTC)(link)* The secret didn't say there weren't any reboots that brought in younger men
* Reboots that bring in younger men usually do so because they want to tackle an earlier point in the story's chronology (see: Spider Man) and need a younger actor, or because they simply want to reboot the series and too much time has gone by to use the original actor, or because they think a different actor will have greater appeal. Tobey Macguire wasn't ditched as Spider Man because people thought he was too old to play a superhero.

What, Xena doesn't age into a battle grizzled warrior? Hmmm
and I'm skeptical about how the new writer will
ruinwrite the friendships and turn it into generic fantasy romance adventure.no subject
