LOL, I knew Rowling haters were going to start pretending that was what she meant when she said the books never specified that she was white. She was saying that it didn't technically contradict canon to cast her as black, as a response to people who said that it did. Everyone knows she meant for the character to be white when she wrote her, but by virtue of a loophole, it's not set in stone in the canon.

But also there were nonwhite characters who were introduced in books before their race was specified (Angelina Johnson, Blaise Zabini...) so you can't say her not being called any race right is the same thing as canon confirmation that she's white.
