Re: What were your favorite movies in 2015?

Favorite: Ex Machina. I'm ambivalent about the ending, but it was complex and subtle enough that my father and I spent a good 90 minutes discussing it, in depth, after we watched it, and I still think about it sometimes.

Second favorite: Star Wars. Fun, well written, and I loved how balanced the gender representation felt in it. It didn't feel like a feminist movie or a woman-centric movie; it just felt balanced, without a bunch of lazy gender role BS stuffed in.

A clarification, because I actually like feminism and am a feminist.

It didn't feel like a feminist movie

Derp. I mean like capital F Feminist, "This is a Feminist Movie with an Important Feminist Message," type movie. It was feminist enough, and that's a good thing. It just wasn't trying to be a Feminist Movie.
