It's always baffling to me when an app will be on iOS exclusively, because almost 80% of smartphones use Android.

IPhone apps generate more revenue, and not just a little, by an order of multiples. Your average iPhone user has already spent more for their brand than a rival phone model, so they've already been conditioned to spend more in general. That's why apps tend to release first on iPhone and only on Android as an afterthought, even though most phones use Android.

If an app is purely for the fans, to reach the most people it should release on Android. If it's for the revenue, which most are, it should come out on iPhone with in app purchases. Unless the app is a mega hit, it will perhaps never make it to Android. Porting iPhone apps to Android is surprisingly expensive. There has to be the predicted revenue stream to make it worthwhile, so a lot don't bother.
