Is this actually romantic? As someone who hasn't seen the movie.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen the series. It's not her large breasts that are the problem, it's the rather juvenile way they're featured as a cheap joke. She's a dedicated cop who's trying to track down the cause of all the evil unrest, but hur hur lookit her boobies, etc.

Speaking as someone who has age difference as a kink, this STILL didn't work for me. It wasn't the age gap per se as it was the weirdness of it all. Ash isn't really a great guy, for all his kickass abilities. So to have a beautiful woman he just met, who recently thought he was the cause of all the evil to suddenly fall for his (purposefully written as) sleazy charms and childish come-ons feels like an icky middle aged dude fantasy.

I thought the same thing about Sans and Papyrus until I saw more about the game from someone I follow.

The sad answers:

Because watching foreign movies is too much of a drag for some people.

Because you can make lots of money with a new movie.

Because some people have problems to identify with character not being their race.

As I said the answers are sad.

Oh you

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
LOL what? Have you even seen this show? It doesn't look anything like Sherlock, which, the last time I checked, has a distinct lack of reanimated dead people, chainsaw arms and blood/guts/brains flying everywhere.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
SAME. He's literally the only reason why I saw the two new Star Trek flims.
Imagine my dissappontment when I saw "Into Darkness" where instead of seeing Bones, he was just shoved into the background and only had like ten lines to make more room for stupid Benedict Cumberbatch.
;__;

Best musical episode ever.

You have the magic power to remove one type of wank forever from FS. Which do you ban?

Malcolm in the Middle. I loved that episode where Dewey writes an opera about his family.

AYRT

There is no movie of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I didn't mind it but with like most intros I skip them after the first time because they get repetitive, especially with Netflix shows where I have the next one ready to go straight after the episode I'm watching.

Re: Best musical episodes?

I don't know if this technically counts because it wasn't a full musical episode, but I've always had a fondness for the X-Files' "The Post-Modern Prometheus" episode.

Re: Jews question

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Which is ironic because while most American Jews are white, Southern Italians -along with Greeks- are not considered fully white under America's old racial rules. They were "dirty" whites, and ranked lower than Persians for some reason. America has some very strange racial baggage.

preferences? like taste in music, clothes, religion...probably income level? Basically everything we fight about now minus those two things.

Ohh I miss rating communities! It's nice to fill those out and know which character from a certain fandom you are. They definitely need to make a comeback, especially for Haiykuu, Kuroko no Basket, Free, One Punch Man, The Seven Deadly Sins or Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

They were also called Stamping communities and they were such much fun!

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Because like this they can make more money with it.

No, I don't approve of this descision either. The manga is set in Japan. Leave the movie location in Japan.

And hey, many chapters of the manga are set in LA and New York, isn't that enough to work with?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Whitewashing is stupid for various reasons and in cases like, say, The Grudge which is set in Japan for cultural texture but cast almost entirely white for...reasons?? it's pretty exploitative. But the hysteria surrounding whitewashing sometimes gets equally absurd. There are Asian reboots of American franchises that are cast entirely Asian and set in Asia, so why would you get angry if there's an American reboot that's set in America and cast with American actors (whose casting would hopefully have some racial diversity)? While I think it would be cooler if it were made BY America and set in its country of origin with actors FROM that country, it's not nazi-level evil to set it in the US if what you're doing is making an American reboot.
