I still maintain that these two could not possibly have sex because they are too ugly. I'm not sure why that got deleted.

I find it pretty sad that someone had to wonder why a comment that included racial insults was removed.

Well, Mayim is but Jim isn't.

I'm not a fan nor regular watcher, but was at my parents' for the holidays and caught this episode. Unless Sheldon has done a lot of developing since the early seasons, I was also amazed that it went so fast. I don't object to them having sex, though. I do sympathize with those who wanted him to be asexual, but I also like characters that grow and evolve throughout a series, even a dumb sitcom, so in theory that's sort of interesting.

It would be interesting to me if the growth and evolution was ever anything except "realizes true feelings and has the sex and the babies". Granted, they are trying to appeal to the largest possible audience, and that's what people want, but this wasn't a typical show to begin with, and it's depressing that it's gotten so ... average.

It was Amy's birthday present, actually. He decided that he loved Amy, and she wanted sex, so he would sleep with her for her birthday. Instead of seeing the Force Awakens opening day. In the end, he concluded that he enjoyed it more than he thought he would, and that he was looking forward to her next birthday when they would do it again

I would attempt to believe that if not for the part about TFA, because the man has done some extraordinarily stupid shit for his fandoms, and missing that for some nookie is so out of character.

Why do you think he's not asexual now? Simply having sex doesn't make someone not asexual. He did it because he knew Amy wanted to, and they both seem content to make it a once a year thing.

Yeah, so about that: Asexuality doesn't mean you don't have sex for the sake of your partner. It just means you're not particularly interested in it or even have a sex drive.

I don't even watch the show anymore (quit in S3), but as an ace, I'm ok with him having sex with someone who he is in a long-term relationship with.

Oh barf. So glad I stopped following this show.

Sheldon is still single, Amy found someone else, Penny is single, Leonard is gone, and that is my headcanon.

Oh, and Sheldon and Penny are totes roommates with a possible budding romance.

I haven't watched in years but I never liked their relationship and I can't believe the show is still trying to push it.

But then I think most of the relationships on the show were kind of fucked.

I always thought Sheldon was asexual. He always treated Amy like a friend, he sometimes was possesive of her, but like a kid with his toys.

I honestly can´t believe he could get it up for somebody.

I liked it better when Amy just was introduced into the show and she also wasn´t interested in dating. When she became a regular, the writers changed her personality into the typical virgin woman who wants to have sex.

This is my problem with it. I haven't seen the episode in question, and a part of my mind is still doubting that they actually did it and it's not some weird trick that was played, because I can't even begin to imagine Sheldon being able to go through with the process.

Ditto. I'm not ace and I'm not in the habit of headcanoning people with specific sexualities if it's not clear in canon, but... Sheldon and sex just don't go together in my head.

Again, how does this make him not asexual? Asexuals can still have sexual feeling, just not sexual ATTRACTION. There's nothing physically wrong--all the nerve endings still work.

And Amy, typical anything?

Maybe because people saw Sheldon as a sex repulsed asexual, which I also kind of leaned towards. I couldn't imagine him having sex in any capacity.

Eh. Kinda glad I haven't watched this since the first season. It started out as a unique premise but then it became like every other sitcom with cliche romance drama.
