As long as Hawkeye and Mustang get together, I'm all for it. I watched the ending of Brotherhood for the first time just before Christmas, and was gutted when there was no resolution. :'(

It's called army regulations on fraternization. They can't get together without betraying what they believe in.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I'm a hopeless romantic. After all the shit they went through together, they deserved a happy ending. I think they repaid their debts for what happened in Ishval with their actions up to, and on, the Promised Day.

Besides, I thought the fraternization rules were to stop favoritism and caring more about people over the mission? Half of the people under his command shouldn't have been there if that was the case. Maes Hughes especially.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hughes wasn't officially under his command. He was in Intelligence. He was just reporting to Mustang anyway because they were trying to take over/reform the country.
likeadeuce: i would like to say i'm riza at work, but I'm more like Roy. 'plotting extracurriculars! cookies for breakfast!' (mustang work day)

Ehh, I think a resolution on that relationship could have been written if the author wanted it. I like the way it was left tbh!

I also liked the vaugeness.

Welp, I didn't know I wanted it too.

I'd watch it (then again I'm a sucker for manga/anime/video game based musicals).

Hah I never knew this was a thing but now I'm amused.

It actually has a pretty long tradition, back to Takarazuka producing Rose of Versailles as a musical in the 70s... Sailor Moon's musicals lasted for 10 years then recently returned.

Prince of Tennis, HunterxHunter, Sakura Taisen, many more...

I'd watch it. Then again, I am a sucker for musicals/stageplays based on big-name anime/manga/video games (Rose of Versailles, Sailor Moon, Kuroko no Basuke, Bleach, TeniPuri, Rurouni Kenshin, Ace Attorney and Hunter x Hunter)

I didn't know there was a Kenshin one... I'll have to track that down.

Ever seen any of the Sakura Taisen musicals/Kayou Shows (Those ones were fun for basically being two musicals in one, a musical about the game characters then a musical put on BY the game characters for the second act)

The Kenshin musical is going to be staged this year around March. It's going to be performed by the Takarazuka company (the same company that staged the Phoenix Wright, Sengoku Basara, Black Jack, Phoenix, Lupin III and Rose of Versailles musicals).

I've never seen the Sakura Taisen shows sadly, but it looks good!

Oh I'm a big fan of the Takarazuka Kagekidan (I've seen a few versions of Rose of Versailles and used to have a bootleg VHS of the Sky Stage broadcast of Blackjack but misplaced it). Haven't seen Phoenix Wright outside of a few clips.

That's really cool that they're doing Kenshin, I look foward to it.
elaminator: (Haikyuu!!: Hinata/Kageyama (score))

Sounds fun! I'd love to see an Elric brother duet. (I know there are a couple CD's with the cast and some of the songs were quite good Hughes!, but this would still be neat!)

*adds this to the list of "things I didn't know I wanted until someone else lamented that they didn't exist"*

Well, now I want Berserk: The Musical...

I'm not as big an FMA fan as I am with other anime, and I've not checked out any other anime/manga-based musicals beyond Sailor Moon, but suddenly I want this too. How has this not happened yet?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
You've got me on board.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-05 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, OP. Your wish comes true.

FMA gets a musical that runs in a theatre in Tokyo and maybe tours to another major city. In Japanese.

Sure, there are kind people out there who will record the musical and subtitle it. (Bit of advice from a long time Takarazuka/Sera/Teni-Myu fan -- the translations aren't always great, copies are often hoarded by fans (seriously, Takarazuka used to be awful for this) and not always downloadable on torrent, sometimes encoded in weird ways - I used every video player under the sun to try and get the subs to work on one SM musical, but it played just fine when I ripped it to DVD? :/ )

I've been to Japan and even tried getting theatre tickets. They're often super pricey and why would you pay it if you can't understand what's going on?

TL;DR - FMA is great and Japanese musicals are fun as hell to watch, but you'd probably run into a lot of troubles trying to get a translated copy,
