Best thing for cramps besides NSAIDs?

On account of stomach issues I can't take ibuprofin right now (and naproxen doesn't work for me anyway). And of course this is when my body decides that what I really need is bad cramps.

I already know tilenol doesn't do much. Would asprin work?

Midol. Seriously. It's the only thing that gets me out of the fetal position.

Isn't midol just tilenol and caffeine?

Yes, which is why I personally can't take it since my body doesn't enjoy doses of acetaminophen that high and gets terribly nauseated. But if op is a person who has high tolerance for acetaminophen, it might work for them.

Hrm. For some reason I thought Midol was ibuprofen-based, not acetaminophen-based.

Depends on the actual type. Think there are a couple different varieties.

If you need help without a pill, warm compresses I find are helpful.

Or if you're of drinking age, put a little alcohol in some tea.

This. Make yourself some tea with a little Grand Marnier or brandy in it.

If you have stomach issues that are exacerbated by NSAIDs, aspirin may not be a good idea, since it can cause ulcers and bleeding because it's a blood thinner. Hot water bottle or hot bath? Muscle relaxants from your doctor if you've got one? IDK, but good luck.

Ginger tea and a heating pad.

I get cramps bad enough to make me throw up. I find a heating pad/hot water bottle on my lower back can work well, even without taking any pain killers. Or even a very hot bath.

Hot baths and orgasms.

a heating pad or hot water bottle. I've started to get them so bad that I need heat PLUS ibuprofin, just one or the other alone won't work. so if you can't do the nsaid, then try the heat.

(hot water bottles can be messy yeah but at least they allow you to move around...but if you're going to be confined to a bed or couch anyway, the electric heating pad is god's gift to humankind)
