I consider someone rich when they can retire and never have to work another day in their lives.

There are statistics that say most millionaires in the US are 60+ because they are exactly what you said: people who lived middle class lives for decades while saving up enough to retire without having to work.

Yup. I know more than one millionaire next door. They're pretty ordinary people who were just really careful with their money over the years. One day I hope to join their ranks.
