[The Price of Salt/Carol]

I saw the trailer for the movie and it looked like it might be one of those cases where the characters are "totally in love" and you never, ever know or see WHY. I can't stand Rooney Mara but Cate Blanchett being in it is pretty much a guarantee I'll see it though (plus period clothing and Todd Haynes is an okay director).

I still want to read this even though I'll probably feel the same way (hopefully the fact that I love Patricia Highsmith will save it for me). Most of the classic f/f stuff people talk about leaves me feeling "that's it?"

Ooh, another super Highsmith fan here. But where do she fit in?

Highsmith wrote The Price of Salt under a pseudonym.

Thank you! Now I need to read it before I watch it.

I saw the movie and loved it. But I love Cate Blanchett in anything. I do think they had chemistry in the movie, but I've never read the book so I don't know if there are huge differences.

I had no idea it was a book. I'd like to read it now.

The movie is a snoozefest but yay for lesbians I suppose

I wanted to read this before seeing the movie, but I've started it a couple of times and it hasn't grabbed me at all.

It didn't grab me either, but I drudged through it because I plan to see the movie, which won't be out until February where I live.
