Being disturbed by scary movies isn't about cowardice, it's about sensitivity, especially to disturbing visuals. That's not a bad thing unless it stops you from doing things you need to do.

As for the creaky house thing, that's not what cowardice is either. Cowardice is about being unwilling to risk any danger to yourself in order to protect yourself, other people, or your options and opportunities.

If you're scared of a creaky house, remember that it's your brain accidentally misleading you by activating an absolutely essential and highly successful survival mechanism honed over the course of a hundred thousand years. Bothersome because it's not needed in this situation, but nothing to be ashamed of. This kind of overreaction manifests itself differently in different people. Turn on as many lights as you can afford to, put on a familiar radio station or some happy music or a funny podcast, and maybe cook something that smells nice and comforting.
