I kinda understand preferring one over the other, due to my mother's stories, but what I don't get is the idea of how people would not be able to eventually work out how to raise the sex they preferred less. It's still their child, do they really expect to not love the child at all? That's the sort of rhetoric that made me Childfree sympathetic (CF communities have a great fondness for being exasperated at parents who are being idiots).
