I feel you on the domino effect. For me it's not even something about fic being problematic, but it's soo, soooooo obvious how fanfic influences the imagination of fans in rp.

Really, 95% of all (OOC or not) trends I used to notice on chat or paragraph based rps were entirely ripped off fanfic, to the point that it's becoming a second canon.

That's just a dislike of fanon=canon trend which certain psychos are pushing, but no reason to tell fanfic writers to stop writing the tropes they want to write. You should just find other RP partners if you don't like their style or actively tell potential RP partners that you've very pro-canon, etc.

Really, this whole thing reeks of "stop liking what I don't like".
