Co-freakin-signed. I'm sure there must be some good fic on the subject out there too, but, well. It's HP fandom. That's a lot of fic to wade through.

yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like something on Disney channel. I've never seen it but maybe Wizards of Waverly Place might scratch that itch, OP?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda agree. I liked the earlier books better than the later ones and I always thought it was because it focused more on fun magical school times than impending dark lord prophecy doom.

I'm not sure I would read an entire book of ordinary wizardry school life now--mainly because I have so many other books to read--but back in the day when the fandom was thriving, yes, I would have loved it.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, but this is the kind of thing that sounds way better as a collection of ideas in one's head than it look as a real thing with actual stories and episodes. And the kind of thing that fanfics do way, way, way better than a TV show would.

That being said, I WOULD read the hell out of a fanfic like this.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That is why god gave us fan fiction. Because we'll never get this. :(

recs?

Same. That's why I liked that giant sleepover in PoA so much.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I have ideas for a regular "school life at a wizarding high school" fic (albeit a different decade and setting) myself but there's a part of me that always worries that people will scoff and say "no one will read that"

This makes me feel better about it.

Hogwarts High?

I'd dig a short series based on this premise too, I think it'd be interesting to see.

I only know it by reputation, but I think The Worst Witch might be pretty close to what you're looking for.

I actually feel like HP has elements of this? I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

I'd definitely read well-written fic in this vein.

Thanks to this secret, I'm picturing your standard high school primetime soap opera set at Hogwarts.

Like The O.C. + Hogwarts, or Dawson's Creek + Hogwarts.

I like it. (At the very least, I'd like to see a webseries in that vein. It has potential.)

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ive recently read about a book with this premise... Not about Hp obviously, but about the 'regular' kids who go to school with those who have special powers/gifts. I think it was by a fairly well known male ya author?

isn't HP slice of life magic boarding school half of the time?

to be honest I think that only sounds appealing to you because the scenes Rowling wrote didn't overstay their welcome... if you would go more casual the daily life wouldn't seem interesting and restful anymore

Yeah, that sounds like it could be more fun.

YES. WHERE DO I SIGN UP.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I agree and I was one of those weird fans who cared more about how Harry was going to defeat Voldemort, rather than who winds up with who. Might be interesting to do something like that with the next generation. Like how does Albus Severus deal with all the expectations heaped on him, not just because he's Harry Potter's son, but also because with a name like Albus Severus, that seems to imply that Harry had some high expectations for his kid as well. Also, you wonder about how Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy deals with his family's tarnished reputation. That and having a name like Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, because as bad as Albus Severus Potter is, at least, he can shorten his name and go by Al, if he decides to. Can you think of any nicknames poor Scorpius can use? Drop off the last name and he sounds like a villain from Power Rangers.
