65. Don't be ashamed! As long as your knowledge and liking of geisha and Japanese culture extends past the movie, it's okay. (For instance, the novel.. Has quite a few inaccuracies, but it's a great, thrilling read because of it.) Not everyone will make fun of you from where you come from.. Because more than half of them only got into it because of the movie, too! (I was somewhat interested in it beforehand, and had never looked very deeply into it, but I only got very interested after I read the book then saw the movie, myself. Now I'm reading stuff about geisha left and right.)

68. I don't think it would be as great if it wasn't trashy~ Everyone talks about how they want it to be 'more high fashion' this and that, this and that, but.. The drama is what makes it so watchable. I'd be bored if it were just monotonous, non-personality focused models modeling in pretty pictures. That's a huge part, too, of course, and a majorly important part, but it's always more fun to see them in action outside of a photograph. It's how you relate, and it's a huge part of how you choose your picks~

But it's only an hour a week, so.. 8D No guilt! Just watch and enjoy and have fun~

Aw, thank you! That was such a positive response. So sweet of you to understand my problem and indeed I am reading, watching and researching geisha as much as possible, I just can't admit the reason it came about. I usually say it's because of my love of anime got me into various aspects of japanese culture - which is true, but, like you, I only got really interested in geisha after I saw the movie (and I've just read the book, which took me only a couple of days...it's SO good I couldn't put it down). I'd love to go to Gion and see the place for myself, maybe even catch a glimpse of the few geisha and maiko left - which is also something that saddens me, since it's such a beautiful art.
