I'd love to cosplay Jotaro some day, but this is one of those cases of being too thin for cosplay. I'm going through the series again trying to find characters I'd fit.

part 4 translations are awful as all hell. I've seen volume 29 slightly cleaned up (http://rapidshare.com/files/39642838/Jojos_Bizarre_Adventure_v29__deQUALITY_.zip.html) (so even with the off translation it's readable); perhaps try that, since the first volume of 4 is by far the worst to get through, and it might give you the courage to power through the rest. What I'd do for decent part 4 translations...the ones out there now nearly made me stop reading JoJo altogether, which would have been awful because I loves me some part 5 like I wouldn't have ever believed.
And seriously, try some part 4, 5, 6, and 7 cosplay! The characters get much more realistic and less muscletastic.

Oof, but yeah, there's no regularly posted to JoJo fanfic or fanart comms or anything like that or fansites (Plus finding the site with all the scanlations in one place took fucking foreverrrrrr), so I guess most JoJo fans just are in hiding. Although I don't know whether I'm happy or not with the fact that JoJo fandom is the way it is. On the one hand, it's hard to find fans, on the other, this way, I never have to suffer Kakyoin being turned into a super uke or something.
(Though I swear I doom myself to obscure fandoms - not just JoJo, but Killer 7, Dorohedoro, Power Instinct, Tank Girl, BLAME!, Eden: It's an endless world, oh god so many)

...that's not the worst you'll see hunting for fanarts and the like. I think I nearly wanted to kill myself when some anon managed to find George Joestar as a catboy. Because seriously, what the holy fuck. I think by now I've become immune to Dio in a dress or whatnot. *sigh* At least it's better than Stand porn. ANYTHING is better than Stand porn.
And god, I feel you on the obscure fandoms thing. The closest things most of what I'm following have to "fandoms" is "a lot of people posting on nightshift /a/ and occasionally on /cm/" (JoJo, Kaiji, Vinland Saga), other than Berserk and well, the fandom for that scares the hell out of me so I stay away and just read the manga and wish I could cosplay it better.
It's worth trying through 4, trust me, if only for Rohan and Kira. And I can 100% assure you that the translations get far far far more readable by the end. They'll never be good, but they're at least readable. And then there's epic win 5, which I admit is my favorite. And then there's oh god why is there only three volumes of part 6 and the project dead in the water for years. And then Steel Ball Run, and the torment of waiting for translations on that. Internet Jesus hates JoJo fans.

With the fandoms you're into, I'd say you'd definitely like Dorohedoro, although it hasn't had a new release in forever. Still worth it for what it's got so far. Go here for good times! (http://omanga.net/?type=proj&cid=dorohedoro)
Basically I recommend nearly everything at Omanga, even though they never, ever update.

You know, I've actually come across Dorohedoro before. But it was on (lol where else) late night /a/ and it was a random page from it that I had no clue what it was but I wanted to read it. Thank you! You just solved the mystery of what is this kickass-looking manga.
You know, I'd kill for some of the Naruto/One Piece/everything popular with multiple release dates in a day after the chapter comes out in Japan scanlators to do some not so popular stuff. I think it's like an internet law by now that the more likely I am to like a manga, the more likely it is to have slow translations/no translations/authors on crack who randomly postpone things/only scanlators being crazed insomniacs who only post chapters on 4chan at 3am. *sigh*

Dorohedoro features a scene where, annually or something, a ton of zombies come out into the city, all of them carrying medals around their neck. It's become so regular, that instead of becoming HOLY FUCK, EVERYBODY EVACUATE, it gets turned into something like a carnival for killing zombies. The medals can be used like tickets from a Skee Ball game and exchanged for prizes. Caiman, the main character, has his eyes on collecting enough medals to get a food processor. Dorohedoro is awesome.
Well, with not popular series comes lack of demand for scanlations, which generally means less people doing the scanlation work, which means muuccchhh slower turnout rates. I'm just glad I'm getting into the series Monster now that it's finished.
(though i have no idea why JoJo isn't popular here, they eat JoJo up like fucking candy in Japan. Even CLAMP made gay JoJo doujins!)

I think JoJo got screwed here because of copyright laws. Even the new Viz manga release for part 3 has to change a bunch of the names. I'm kind of terrified about part 5 if they somehow ever did that. (Prince and Metallica. Nuff said.) And haha, yeah, CLAMP jojo doujins. I actually just managed to get my hands on one of those off JPqueen, although it hasn't arrived yet. And while nobody ever seems willing to translate Stone Ocean, I already have some people wanting to try and translate it if I scan it. (Which I think means screw ethics, it's doujin scanning time!)

Dorohedoro is magnificent, as is BLAME!, although BLAME! has so little dialogue it's difficult to tell what's going on, ever. I'm serious, a volume may contain less than three paragraphs of characters talking. Art is gorgeous, though. It got licensed, so Omanga doesn't carry it anymore, but you can still get it at Stop Tazmo (http://stoptazmo.com/) after registering there.

I think the only stuff I'm into currently that really have some sort of fandom going around it are Silent Hill and Battle Royale.
