Batman:TAS is its own thing in my eyes. The most perfect of Batman adaptations.

However, you must agree that even in that Batman took a back seat to the villains.

Just responded to say This. So very this. Though Adam West Batman is pretty cool. People forget that the Adam West Batman show was never intended to be a serious take on Batman--it was intended to be campy and comedic as hell--and part of why it works so well is no matter how ridiculous things get, Adam West remains utterly deadpan and serious, which somehow adds to the comedic effect.
