Childhoods and the nostalgia about childhood seems so individualized to me that I think it'd be hard to find a fic that captures all of that for a specific reader. A picture is easier to impose your own memories/nostalgia upon.

...fic? I think the OP means movies/live action TV? Child actors, as the secret mentions, have nothing to do with fanfics.

Okay, sorry.

(OP mentions books as well as movies and TV.)

That's a really cute picture!

And IA with the lack of good child actors out there. I think shows and movies about kids would be much better received if there were more good ones.

Recs for movies with good child actors

One of the best I've ever seen that I can remember off the top of my head is the French film Ponette.

I thought Abigail Breslin did well as a kid in Little Miss Sunshine.

theres a lot of good child actors in Korea, I feel. Or at least the kids in tv I've watched do a great job, especially at crying.

Anything with Charlie Korsmo. I still want him to come back to acting!

The kids in 'To Kill A Mockingbird' were excellent actors, very organic in how they moved and talked.

I'm trying to think of other movies or tv shows with good child actors and I'm drawing a blank. E.T. maybe?

I think real child actors (especially young ones) have limits to what they can do and the kinds of emotions they can portray, whereas animated and book children don't have those limitations.

That said, I really liked watching the movie Hook as a kid and The Goonies.
