I like that book. There was a line that stuck with me, something like "she thinks I've never experienced anything, though I see the end of the world every day and still have to keep doing normal things" (the actual quote was much better, but I don't have the book on hand).

I think my favorite stories were the one about the invisible child and the one where Moominpappa followed the hattifatteners.

I really loved that movie, but it kind of reached my limit for Chariots of the Gods-type stuff, you know? (The TV show struck me as a bit too goofy to take seriously in that regard and the mythology eventually spiraled out into its own thing, so I found it tolerably inoffensive). I'm fearful of what a new trilogy would do. I never read the sequel novels, but somehow I got the feeling the movies were intended to be more heavy-handed along those lines (for example, my Stargate DVD has an interview Erich von Däniken that I've never watched).

Yes, it was awesome to grow up alongside Harry Potter. It was delightful that there were books we could talk about with the average kid on the playground without getting weird looks.

No, I don't think that everyone who has read the series and still professes not to like it is "just trying to be 3edgy5me." Funnily enough, people have different tastes and opinions!

You have gotten horribly judgemental as we've gotten to be adults. I can't believe I'm using this word unironically, but you've gotten outright conformist, and it breaks my heart.

Childhoods and the nostalgia about childhood seems so individualized to me that I think it'd be hard to find a fic that captures all of that for a specific reader. A picture is easier to impose your own memories/nostalgia upon.

Transcript: I feel like I'm not allowed to headcanon Rey as anything but a lesbian.

I headcanon her as bi and ship her with Finn, Poe, and Kylo (and would with any girls if we had any that were bloody viable for shipping with her :T), but everyone seems so dead set on her as a lesbian that I just feel lonely, even though I know that's not true with how popular my other ships are.

The troll Reylo fic doesn't help at all.

I agree, honestly it didn't feel at all like Rey was returning Finn's feelings. I mean their interactions were super cute, but I was never convinced that she was interested in him as anything other than a friend.
