Also, F!S seems to think face blindness is way more common than it is.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 12:00 am (UTC)(link)The reason I first cottoned on to it wasn't because I instantly recognized her, but because I was looking for everyone's Victorian equivalent and who would you expect to work in the morgue on Sherlock?

Why are women disguised as men always furious onscreen, tho? I think it would be a fun thing to try passing (if consequences weren't severe as they are in some cultures, see Islamic places). Surely more than anger is required to "being" male.
I'm not trans, but I've spent most of my youth thinking about this kind of thing.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 05:08 am (UTC)(link)I've been meaning to read some more on this subject, i.e. real life women who had to "pass" in order to do something and still do in some places in the world. There's always some anger with unfair things like this.
At the same time, it's started to seem like visual shorthand and lazy storytelling on the big/small screen when anytime a woman is trying to pass as a man she's overly aggressive and constantly angry.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 04:32 am (UTC)(link)I don't think it's that anger = mal,e so much as women aren't allowed to be angry, therefore anger ≠ female.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)It wasn't until Watson said the thing about "needing to get ahead in a man's world" I cottoned on. God, I'm slow.
